The governing body of chess in the U.S. will bring its headquarters to St. Louis this year.

The World Chess Hall of Fame's most recent exhibition, 鈥淢asterminds: Chess Prodigies," explores the stories of chess prodigies from past to present.

St. Louis was the site of the first World Chess Championship. The event demonstrates the significant role St. Louis played 132 years ago in the world of chess and still plays today.

The World Chess Hall of Fame is approaching its 10th anniversary next year. For its fifth anniversary, it re-created a famous wartime exhibit that played with the concept of chess.

As I walk into the 鈥淒are to Know: Chess in the Age of Reason鈥� exhibition, I instantly feel surrounded by history. Even though I鈥檓 not a well-seasoned chess master, there are several unique chess sets and collectibles that catch my eye. As an artist, I am immediately drawn to the skillful craft and the aesthetics of the hand-carved chess sets. However, some of my favorite pieces in 鈥淒are to Know鈥� celebrate the wonder, mystery, and illusion of the Enlightenment.
