Under a law that takes effect today, Missouri drivers who are using an electronic device while driving and committing another traffic violation could be fined.

Missouri will be one of the last states to implement punishments for drivers who text and drive 鈥� but only if they鈥檙e caught doing it while committing another traffic offense.

The legislation would make a first offense an infraction, with a fine of up to $50, and two points on the driver鈥檚 record.
