Newly minted Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin says national Democrats need to pay attention to deep-red Missouri.

Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Russ Carnahan lamented his party鈥檚 lackluster 2024 election results on the latest episode of the Politically Speaking Hour on St. Louis on the Air.

While the president got more than 85% of the vote, "uncommitted" received enough support to have three delegates at the Democratic National Convention.

Carnahan was appointed a senator after her husband, former Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan, was elected posthumously.

The legislature declined to reinstate a state-run presidential primary this year, meaning that the parties are responsible for planning how delegates will be divided up next year.

The former congressman from St. Louis stressed fundraising and taking the fight to Republicans in his pitch to the state committee.
