Republican lawmakers have proposed a number of constitutional amendments that would overturn Amendment 3. Some include exceptions for survivors of rape or incest, a departure from the party鈥檚 recent stance on abortion.

Under President-elect Donald Trump鈥檚 administration and a GOP-controlled Congress, the Illinois Republican is hoping to fix problems with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The GOP primary for Illinois鈥� 12th Congressional District 鈥� the first true test from Bost鈥檚 party in his nine years in Washington 鈥� will likely decide the race because of the area鈥檚 deeply conservative beliefs.

The winner of the Republican primary between Darren Bailey and U.S. Rep. Mike Bost will be highly favored in November because of the district鈥檚 GOP leaning.
