The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will perform a private concert at Powell Hall on Sept. 19, followed by a weekend of the orchestra鈥檚 first subscription concerts at its longtime home since the organization began a $140 million renovation and expansion two years ago.

St. Louis Symphony鈥檚 Jack C. Taylor Music Center will encompass a renovated Powell Hall plus new facilities including an education center and rehearsal spaces. SLSO will resume concerts at its longtime home in September 2025.

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has reached the midpoint of a more than $100 million renovation of Powell Hall, which is expected to reopen in 2025. Orchestra officials also have raised more than $145 million to fund the project and other priorities, including an outreach program.

St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will perform its 2023-24 season at the Touhill Center, Stifel Theatre and other venues while Powell Hall undergoes a $100 million renovation and expansion.

Demolition is almost finished on the building known as Culver House, making way for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 expansion of Powell Hall. Symphony representative Eric Dundon said the renovations will expand Powell Hall鈥檚 rehearsal space and create more accessible entrances.

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra plans to demolish the 19th-century house next to Powell Hall to prepare for a $100 million renovation project. Opponents of the demolition tried for months to persuade orchestra officials to save the structure.

A $100 million expansion of Powell Hall requires the demolition of another historic structure 鈥� unless preservationists can find an alternative.

The St. Louis Preservation Board met Monday to review the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra's plans for a $100 million renovation of Powell Hall. The orchestra plans to demolish the Culver House for the expansion project.

The organization still needs to raise funds for the plan, which calls for an education center, new lobby and improved backstage space.
