Senate Floor Leader Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, said Thursday the transgender restriction legislation is a priority for the Republican caucus this year.

Formerly, House members were allotted 10 minutes to speak on the final vote of a House bill. That time is now five minutes.

The Missouri House refused to go to conference and wanted the Senate to adopt a version of the proposal with other provisions that critics call "ballot candy."

Because the House made changes to the legislation previously approved by the Senate, including adding language that was stripped off, it has to again get Senate approval.

On the last day before the legislature takes a week off, the House also passed legislation including banning discrimination in schools against traditionally Black hairstyles and creating nurseries in women’s prisons.
