The Prison Policy Initiative put Missouri and Kansas on a list of 鈥渇amously hot states鈥� that lack universal air conditioning in prisons. During excessively hot summer days, inmates say that it can feel like a "pizza oven" inside 鈥� and the state isn't doing enough to fix the issue.

Humans have come up with an ingenious way to keep the heat at bay, but A/C comes at a cost, and if we鈥檙e going to keep up with a warming climate, we鈥檙e going to need some other tricks to stay cool.
