In the wide and varied world of entertainment, there are standup comedy shows, there are author readings 鈥� and then there鈥檚 the 鈥渓iterary reading comedy mashup.鈥� That鈥檚 how the staff of the St. Louis-based literary magazine Boulevard is billing next week鈥檚 Three Writers and a Comedian shindig at the Schlafly Tap Room.
On Wednesday鈥檚 St. Louis on the Air, guest host Sharon Stevens talked with some of the minds behind the free May 7 event, which is expected to be a unique celebration of funny writing of all sorts.
Joining the on-air discussion were local writers Christopher Candice and Gabe Montesanti as well as Tina Dybal, the reigning champion of St. Louis鈥� Funniest Person Competition.
Boulevard has partnered with the University of Missouri-St. Louis鈥� literary magazine, Natural Bridge, to bring in Pen/Hemingway and Whiting Award recipient Weike Wang as the headliner for the event. Wang is the author of the breakout novel 鈥淐hemistry,鈥� and her fiction has appeared in Boulevard among other literary magazines.
