On Friday, St. Louis on the Air host Don Marsh will discuss the first St. Louis election under the new voter photo ID law in Missouri with Denise Lieberman and Gary Stoff.

On Friday’s “Behind the Headlines," we took a look at a top news story from the week. This week, St. Louis . Heather Navarro, a Democrat, won with 69 percent of the vote.

The Secretary of State’s office said that more than 90 percent of people who cast ballots in person had a photo ID with them and seven percent used a voter registration card and signed a statement confirming their identity.

However, Attorney Denise Lieberman, who runs voter protection efforts in Missouri for the Advancement Project, voted in the election and said she was one of several people who was told by poll workers they could not vote using non-photo identification.

Lieberman and Gary Stoff, the Republican Director of elections for the City of St. Louis, joined host Don Marsh on Friday to discuss the voting process and what comes next in terms of voter photo ID. The Advancement Project, in part, brought a lawsuit against the law and it is scheduled to be heard next month.
