St. Louis 鈥� St. Louis Cardinals All-Star Stan Musial will receive a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The White House announced Musial's selection on Wednesday. The medal, the highest honor a civilian can receive, is given to those who make meritorious contributions to world peace or other cultural endeavors.
In a letter of recommendation, Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill called Musial a "true American hero."
