Politically Speaking: Handicapping The 2014 Election -- And Looking Ahead To 2016

We're getting close to Election Day, and that means © 2024 ÍâÍøÌìÌÃ's Chris McDaniel, Jo Mannies and Jason Rosenbaum are returning to the show's "classic" format to preview the main races in St. Louis and throughout the Show Me State.

By Missouri standards, Tuesday's election is relatively quiet, especially because the only statewide race for state auditor is essentially uncontested. And Republicans aren't expected to lose their firm hold on the Missouri House or Senate.

The race for St. Louis County executive is perhaps the most watched. And it's possible what happens on Tuesday could set the stage, so to speak, to 2016.

On the show, the Politically Speaking crew discussed:

  • How could affect Attorney General Chris Koster's political future.
  • Whether Koster may encounter Democratic opposition in the 2016 primary from U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., or former Lt. Gov. Joe Maxwell.
  • How Democrat Steve Stenger and Republican Rick Stream are duking it out in the final days of the county executive's contest.
  • The competitive state Senate races for the 22nd District in Jefferson County and the 24th District in central St. Louis County.
