Missouri鈥檚 exports grew by 35 percent last year, and the state鈥檚 governor is visiting several businesses today to spread the news.
Governor Jay Nixon stopped at this morning, a family-owned business on in St. Louis, which exports dry-cured Italian meats to several countries.
The Democrat says the state鈥檚 helped Volpi identify some of its markets, while the Department of Economic Development also is working to expand export opportunities.
鈥淭he department of Economic Development and their staff have really been combing the world for opportunities and we decided from day one that the borders of our state we鈥檙e not the borders of our economy,鈥� Nixon said.
Nixon says the rise in exports was worth about $12.9 billion.
The governor says developing more export opportunities will create more jobs at home.
