When ranking each town, Missouri Life magazine used a two-round ranking system. Within the first round, the magazine looked at students’ performance on the , academic achievement awards given to schools, unemployment rates and crime rates.
The second round compared the number of entertainment facilities ie: parks, movie theaters, bookstores and restaurants in each town, and also compared the median household income and air quality.
