On Thursday, Washington University鈥檚 Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts will laud a 94-year-old professor who鈥檚 still a working artist.
Leslie Laskey will receive the Dean鈥檚 Medal for outstanding service at an annual awards dinner. Besides Laskey, For 35 years, Laskey headed what was then called the Washington University College of Architecture. He was known as a stern but effective instructor. Each summer, he holds an Art Kamp at his second home in Manistee, Mich.
He鈥檚 also a prolific painter and multi-media artist who creates a new body of work every year, and enjoys regular exhibitions, . In 2012, Last summer, he participated in
Laskey was a prot茅g茅 of the founder of the renowned Bauhaus German art school. But one of his proudest accomplishments is that he was among the troops who landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day during World War Two.
